What is Lane Keep Assist?

Even though you’ve likely seen it listed as a standard feature on Honda models, you may be unsure what it does — so what is Lane Keep Assist? The Lane Keep Assist System is a safety feature that comes as part of Honda Sensing®, the suite of active safety features you’ll find inside nearly all new Honda vehicles. How does Lane Keep Assist work to keep you safe in Danvers?

Let’s take a close look at this unique technology to find out how it increases your awareness on the road and keeps you safe on your drives throughout Lynn.

How Does Lane Keep Assist Work?

What is Lane Keep Assist designed to do? Lane Keep Assist acts like an extra set up eyes on the road, increasing your awareness and alerting you if your attention begins to drift. The system scans road markings and monitors your vehicle’s position within the lane. If your car edges toward the lane markings but you haven’t signaled for a lane change, LKAS sends visual and tactile alerts to get your attention quickly: a notification will appear in the dash display and the steering wheel will vibrate. In addition, you can set LKAS to automatically adjust steering to help keep the car centered until you retake control.

Can I Turn Off Lane Keep Assist?

How does Lane Keep Assist work when it comes to those times when you don’t need the system running? Fortunately, it’s esay to turn off LKAS and other Honda Sensing® driver assist features. Follow these steps:

  1. Press the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the multi-information dash display displays LKAS, and select LKAS.
  2. The display will show an image of lane outlines. (You know the system is ready when the dotted lines turn solid.)
  3. Press the MAIN or LKAS button once again to turn off the system.

What is Honda Sensing®?

  • Cross-Traffic Monitor
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
