Fall Fun in Massachusetts

Masachusetts Countryside

Whether it’s your favorite season or not, fall is beautiful in Massachusetts. Those of us here at Honda North certainly enjoy the fall fun in Massachusetts. From great nature centers to rad museums. Pirates, witches, endangered birds, vast parks and more lay ahead!

Endicott Park

For those who love sweater weather and falling leaves, Endicott Park (57 Forest Street) in Danvers is a 165-acre paradise in the middle of Massachusetts. Beautiful, pastoral views and historic farm structures, along with orchards, woodlands, and marshes, create a picturesque scene. Wildlife is aplenty, and there’s also a barn for those who want to see some friendly farm animals up close. You’ll love holding hands with a loved one as you walk the Endicott Park trails!

Witch History in Salem

Everyone knows of the Salem Witch Trials—something doubly true for MA residents—but the details behind the historic, tragic events are too vast for even locals to know everything. From the Rebecca Nurse Homestead right here in Danvers (149 Pine Street) to the Salem Witch Museum in Salem (19 1/2 N Washington Square), you’ll have an opportunity to explore the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Combined, they create both an up-close look at how the Salem Witch Trials affected an individual, along with a birds-eye-view of everything that happened. If your hunger for Salem Witch Trial activities isn’t sated, check out our full Salem Witch Trials guide.

New England Pirate Museum

As far as educational presentations and historical lessons go, the New England Pirate Museum in Salem (274 Derby Street) is pretty darn fun. Learn about the exploits of Captain Kidd and Captain Blackbeard, who plundered merchant ships along East-Coast shores. You’ll see authentic artifacts, and also go back in time with a visit to a recreated colonial seaport, pirate ship, and 80-foot cave.

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge

A beautiful stretch along the northeast coast, Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Refuge Road in Newbury is a habitat for migratory birds. Over 4,700 acres of sandy beach, dunes, cranberry bogs, maritime forests, and shrubland await visitors. Though a plethora of mammals, insects, fish, reptiles and amphibians call this stretch of Plum Island home, it’s the hundreds of species of birds that most visitors are awe-struck by. From the Saltmarsh Sparrow to the Piping Plover, which is a threatened species, Parker River offers a glimpse at wildlife untouched by humans—something that’s more and more rare as time moves on.

Worcester Art Museum

The Worcester Art Museum (55 Salisbury St) is the perfect place to take refuge on a rainy October day. From ancient to contemporary art, including European and Gothic work, WAM connects people and communities with over 38,000 pieces of art. Founded in 1896, WAM balances new ideas with established work well, curating amazing collections inside of the Medieval Chapter House and the Worcester Hunt Mosaic.
