Danvers, Mass. - March 3, 2010:  Honda North, a member of the International Cars, Ltd. family of dealerships, is proud to host a blood drive in honor of Red Cross Month Monday, March 22 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The drive will take place at Honda North, located at 382 Newbury Street in Danvers. 

All presenting donors will have a chance to spin the prize wheel to win car details, oil changes, and other great prizes! Donors will also have a chance to enter a raffle to win an iPod Nano from Honda North. Those attending the blood drive will also be treated to lunch, courtesy of Costco.

"Blood drives have been a tradition at Honda North for years, but this drive is especially significant," said David Richerson, general manager of Honda North. "This March drive celebrates Red Cross Month and all the important work the organization does to assist those in need-from blood services to disaster relief. We invite the North Shore community to join us in celebrating the Red Cross for another successful blood drive that will help many, many people."

As part of celebrating Red Cross Month, International Cars has pledged to donate $100 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund (up to $10,000) for each car sold at all of its dealership locations. Additionally, ICL will also offer employee pricing to all emergency personnel and first-responders throughout the month.

Throughout New England, two thousand units of blood must be collected each day to meet the basic needs of hospitals in the area.  The only source of blood is a healthy volunteer donor, and patients must rely on the generosity of neighbors to make sure they will have the blood they need.  Each unit of whole blood has the potential to save three lives and a single aphaeresis donation can provide as many platelets as five whole blood donations.
