2012 Pilot

Rugged, yet refined
The new 2012 Pilot is as convenient as a push of a button. Literally. Load an armful of groceries just by pushing a button to open the power tailgate (now standard on EX-L in addition to Touring models). On top of that, the lift-up glass hatch allows for quick access to the rear cargo area and is perfect for smaller items. A refinement in the chassis and increased insulation offers a much quieter ride, plus every Pilot model now features an acoustic windshield with double-pane glass, significantly lessening outside noise.

Efficiency with power to spare
The Pilot is powered by a 3.5-liter i-VTEC® V-6 engine, delivering an impressive 250 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to refined aerodynamics, engine friction reduction and new, low rolling-resistance tires, the 2012 Pilot's highway fuel economy has been improved*. Pair that with Honda's innovative Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) not only helps increase fuel economy* but also lowers emissions by automatically deactivating and reactivating cylinders depending on the driver's needs. To create an ultra smooth ride, 4-wheel independent suspension features a MacPherson front strut/multi-link rear design and the Variable Torque Management® 4-wheel drive system (VTM-4®) automatically transfers power to the rear wheels when the system detects loss of front-wheel drive traction for exceptional handling.

Safety philosophy takes shape
The 2012 Pilot has an array of standard safety features ready to help protect you and your passengers while on any trip. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)** with traction control helps sense oversteer or understeer, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control. Additionally, the Pilot is equipped with LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) in all three second-row seating positions and in the right-side third-row seat. However, when a collision just cannot be avoided, the Pilot has standard safety features that help provide a robust defense. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure enhances occupant protection and distributes frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. Additionally, front, front side and side curtain airbags help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensors.

* 18 city/25 hwy/21 combined mpg for 2WD models and 17 city/24 hwy/20 combined mpg for 4WD models. Based on 2012 EPA mileage estimates. Use for comparison purposes only. Do not compare to models before 2008. Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle.

** VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
